Project 7 was Jaguar SVO’s limited-production F-TYPE halo, combining the most powerful contemporary factory tune with distinctive D-type-inspired bodywork.

How the rating works
The rating uses five fixed production bands. Smaller production runs receive higher ratings. Exact totals and responsibly sourced estimates for this precise version can be rated. Plans, regional totals, lower bounds, disputed figures and broader-family totals remain visible but unclassified. The evidence description is kept separate from the rating so a source limitation cannot change how scarcity is measured.

What creates the sound
Mechanical, induction, transmission and exhaust sound are best documented separately.
Factory-stock status depends on engine, intake, forced induction, catalysts, gearbox and silencers.
Recordings with uncertain configuration remain visibly marked as Unregistered.

History and character
Origins and context
Jaguar transformed the dramatic 2013 Project 7 concept into a two-seat customer car developed by Special Vehicle Operations. The production model kept the D-type-inspired rear fairing but added the equipment and second seat required for road use. That distinction matters: the single-seat concept is not the same technical object as the cars delivered from mid-2015. The focus here is only the production Project 7 and excludes visually related ordinary F-TYPE roadsters.
The 5.0-litre supercharged V8 produced 575 PS, 423 kW and 680 Nm. Power went to the rear wheels through a ZF 8HP70 eight-speed Quickshift automatic. An active exhaust, strong supercharger response and rapid torque-converter shifts create a layered sound identity. Recordings must state drive mode, exhaust setting and whether the car is moving under full load or being revved without load, because those conditions engage different control strategies.
SVO also reduced mass, fitted carbon-ceramic brakes and developed aerodynamic and suspension changes around the open body. Project 7 is therefore not simply an F-TYPE V8 S with a decorative fin. Its two-seat cockpit and fairing alter airflow and microphone exposure, while a lower windscreen makes cabin recordings especially sensitive to speed and placement. Safe closed-course work is essential for any exterior performance capture.
Engineering and character
Jaguar announced production of up to 250 cars, and independent histories state that 250 were built. It also excludes the later F-TYPE SVR, which has different bodywork, drivetrain availability and calibration, despite sharing the broad supercharged V8 family.
Project 7 links Jaguar’s D-type visual heritage with a modern supercharged road car, but the archive keeps inspiration separate from equivalence. The fairing does not make it a continuation competition car. Its documentary value lies in the exact SVO production specification and the interaction of supercharger, V8 exhaust and open cockpit. Modified exhausts are common, so factory silencers, catalysts and calibration must be verified before stock attribution.
The earlier single-seat concept, ordinary F-TYPE derivatives, SVR and later special editions are excluded. Similar badges can cover different engines, transmissions, bodies and production programmes. Preserving those distinctions prevents a familiar name from becoming a blended specification that no single production car carried.
Legacy and identity
The mechanical reference is the AJ133S 5.0 L supercharged V8, a 5,000 cc supercharged v8 represented at 423 kW, 575 PS and 680 Nm. It works through a zf 8hp70 8-speed quickshift automatic with rear-wheel drive. Units and period rating conventions stay visible rather than being treated as directly interchangeable.
For sound documentation, the principal markers are supercharged 5.0-litre V8, active exhaust, Quickshift upshifts, open-cabin induction and exhaust. A cold start must include uninterrupted cranking, first combustion and settling idle. Acceleration and fly-by submissions need gear, load, safe road or closed-course context, microphone position and weather. Factory-stock status requires evidence for intake, forced induction, catalysts, gearbox and silencers.
A photograph can establish useful visual context but cannot prove mechanical originality. Restoration, service replacement and reversible modification are common across performance cars. RevAtlas records configuration component by component, allowing modified survivors to remain useful without presenting them as untouched references. That method gives the F-TYPE Project 7 a defensible page now and an exact home for future evidence.
